Silvana Tooher was born in Germany and moved to the East Coast as a young adult. She began her career in early childhood working as a Home Provider for the Department of Human Services in Rhode Island. After six years of working with children at home, she decided to take a position with the Catholic Charity Fund of Rhode Island. There she assumed the role of Preschool Teacher and part time Administrative Assistant to the Director. Silvana decided to continue her education and left the demands of the Inner City Preschool to take a Position as Head Teacher at Bright Horizons Rhode island hospital Campus. She was able to work full time and finish her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development, and began studies at Rhode Island College. |

After visiting their son in beautiful Hawaii, Silvana and her husband decided to relocate and move to Kaneohe. She took a position as Preschool Teacher in Kahuku in 2001, and accepted the role of Assistant Director and Teacher at Rainbow School Kaneohe in 2006. She assumed her position as Director in January 2007, and is currently finishing her BS in Early childhood Education at the University of Hawaii, West Oahu. Silvana has a daughter, a son and a granddaughter. She likes to be involved in Community Activities and has served on several committees and boards, including Community Gardening projects, Community Theater Street Association Board of Directors and several other worthy causes the serve the well-being of the community she lived or worked in. She loves to travel, take pictures, take long hikes, and spend lots of time with young children. Silvana believes that every child is unique and comes with his or her own strengths and qualities. Her goal is to help each child reach their highest potential to the best of their abilities. She strives to provide an atmosphere for children, families and staff, where everyone feels valued, respected and included. |
